Ilse van de Velde is specialised in projects on water and environmental economics. She is involved in technical assistance projects on the economic aspects of the Water Framework Directive and has experience with financial and economic analysis in projects on water management, ICZM, water treatment and sanitation.

Ilse has been involved in projects in Latvia, Romania and Bulgaria aimed at improving the economic analysis in the water field as integrated part of the River Basin Management Plan. For these projects she provided training on the economic aspects of water management. She was also responsible for writing a manual for the introduction of the economic requirements of the EU Water Framework Directive.

Since 2006 she has been involved in the preparation and implementation of the yearly MATRA training on Water Management and Flood Protection and IPA/Environment. From 2001-2008 she has been part of the team within ECORYS that is involved with the appraisal of ORET proposals (ORET is a Dutch programme for development related export transactions). Her work in this respect includes institutional analysis and financial, economic analysis of water supply systems.
