As Director of the ECORYS Brussels office, Jan Maarten acts as high-level events organiser, trainer and moderator in areas within his competence: European urban and regional development, Structural Funds, competitiveness, sustainable development, evaluation and impact assessment.
Currently, he is project director of the DG ENT Framework contract on Sectoral Competitiveness studies and project manager for the DG Budget Evaluation Framework. He is principal evaluator of the Urban II Ex Post Evaluation for DG REGIO and was the principal author of the State of European Cities Report.
Jan Maarten has been leading various competitiveness related projects, including a major evaluation of Scottish clusters and industries and a study on the Factors for Regional Competitiveness for DG REGIO. Jan Maarten has also been working extensively in the New Member States, on regional competitiveness and the preparation for Structural Funds notably – areas in which he has given introductory as well as advanced training courses.
