The ECORYS Academy initiative to develop the so-called "Werkplaats Lokale Economie" (Workshop on the Local Economy) for medium-sized municipalities in the Netherlands has been very successful. Three workshops have been organized so far and over the next two months three more such training events will take place in the provinces of Zeeland, Noord Brabant, Limburg and North and South Holland. During these workshops, participants receive concise and up to date information about drivers of local economic development. Subjects covered include: "dealing with the credit crunch", sustainability, city branding and funding for local initiatives. We also provide overviews of local policy models for economic development and the theoretical perspectives on city development of Jane Jacobs, Richard Florida and Charles Landry.

The Workshop on the Local Economy is a combination of both an open and client-based training.
