Ecorys Academy has won the tender for providing training to help local authorities prepare for EU membership. In March and April 2011 Ecorys Academy ran a week-long training course twice in Belgrade.

The course focused on EU environmental policies and effective interest representation in the European arena. The 30 participants not only received the latest information about EU environmental policies, but were also trained in a highly interactive session with case studies and simulation games on optimizing local interest representation in the European arena. The last day per sessions was reserved for a 'train the trainer' program. The 10 participants in the train the trainer program were designated to deliver comparable training courses in the future by themselves. The training courses took place in close cooperation with the Serbian European Integration Office at the premises of the Belgrade Open School. Both institutes plan to cooperate with the Ecorys Academy in the future on a more regular and structural basis.
