Workshop Climate Neutrality in the Built Environment PDF Print E-mail

As announced in the previous newsletter, the Ecorys Academy has taken the initiative to develop a new series of Seminars to inform the public about new developments, especially in an European context. In this context In this workshop, organised by the Ecorys Academy and the Energy and Climate Change Unit of Ecorys, the latest developments in energy efficiency and renewable energy were discussed with the participants from municipalities, district water boards and NGO’s, with special attention for the largest energy saving potential: the built environment. The lively discussion about European policy and support measures and policy options focused on the consequences of the new European Energy Performance Building Directive. As a consequence of this new directive, all government buildings have to be climate neutral in the near future! This will have, of course, immense consequences for provinces, municipalities, national authorities, but also for organisations involved in real estate development and for example social corporations. The participants showed a great interest in financing models for sustainable development. At the end of the workshop Ecorys Staff introduced the Energy Saving Model that can be used as a tool to calculate which energy savings can be reached by applying different techniques.

Both Ecorys staff and participants look back satisfied at a successful new initiative that will be continued in the future.
