1st September 2009 - ECORYS in partnership with top level experts in the field offers a two days Masterclass to provide the right solutions to face the competition for urban investment.

Across Europe urban development has faced a major backlash. With lack of demand and shaky financial markets, many projects have been cancelled or shelved. Surviving projects tend to rely heavily on public funding – but how long will this last? And where to find investment for urban development when financial markets will tighten for a longer period of time to come?

The need for urban investment is likely to increase for economic, demographic and environmental reasons.  Yet, this need does not always translate in effective demand. Furthermore, the global economic and financial crisis has had a serious impact on the supply of both public and private capital for urban investment. The competition for urban investment is therefore likely to be more fierce – and only those well prepared are likely to succeed.

As such, ECORYS will provide the participants of tis Masterclass with tools and feedback based on solid analysis and evidence from across Europe.

The Masterclass Attracting Urban Investment targets senior professionals and directors from medium-sized and larger cities across Europe working for public, private or semi-private institutions specialised in economic, spatial, urban, and social development.  Indeed, during this Masterclass participants will have the opportunity to expose their programme, plan or project to the group, to engage with trainers and peers, and to use this as a basis for an individual action plan.
